After It Happened
When Life Suddenly Turns Heavy
A serious illness sent a family member to hospital overnight.
After waking, so many familiar things had to be relearned — learning to walk again, adjusting to daily life again, rearranging the space and the care needed once they came home. Coming home was never as simple as "coming home."
We assumed a single "let's figure this out together" naturally included every family member.
But in reality, some spoke first of how hard it was, while others quietly stepped back into the distance.
The difficulty was explained very clearly, yet none of it grew any lighter; the things that needed handling stayed, one by one, right in front of us.
Family was never a list of shared surnames.
That Moment
The Weight of One Bed
To let our family member live more safely and comfortably back home, Paul and Cami bought an electric care bed.
Soul New Energy is still finding its feet, and money is tight. Cami never belonged to this bloodline, and no one could have asked her to take any of this on.
But she didn't start by talking about how hard it was.
She simply emptied her savings, took the delivery with Paul, and moved the heavy bed into the home.
The corridor was narrow, the bed was not light. The two of them each held one side, adjusting the position step by step.
When it was done, Cami ached all over — without a single word of complaint.
That image later became where "The Other Side" began.

Blood can create a relationship, but it doesn't automatically bring understanding, responsibility, or presence.
Sometimes, what truly makes a place a home is the one who had no obligation, yet chose to stay.
Whoever catches the other side, is family.

"The Other Side" isn't out to deny blood ties, nor to pass a final verdict on every family.
